Experienced/senior software developer - united kingdom, burnley, lancashire

due to continued growth and a pipeline of new client opportunities, our fast-paced business is looking for a talented senior developer with back-end development experience to join our software team at a really exciting time. the role will be predominantly in back end development, however, a broad range of skills is required for this role to support the wider team as a senior developer, therefore some front end skills would be advantageous.

our team of software specialists take a collaborative and progressive approach to developing exceptional systems to make businesses more productive and cost-efficient. we already work with a variety of thriving national and international businesses.

in addition the company is also utilising their skills to develop new iot technology to help with the energy crisis and carbon reduction. this technology development is part funded through a highly prestigious grant fund in the uk.

the ideal candidate will be a great problem solver, able to work with both front-end and back-end technologies to an advanced level, covering projects varying in scale from maintaining existing systems and developing new features, through to taking full projects through the software project lifecycle.

you will also be responsible for maintaining server infrastructure, overseeing and enacting our business-to-business (b2b) operational support including responding to service desk tickets and managing deployment pipelines, as well as delivering project work for both new and existing clients.

required skills

- minimum 5 years experience as full-stack developer

- excellent knowledge of php, oop and design patterns (mvc/repository/mvvm)

- a good knowledge of mysql, js/jquery, html5, css

- experienced with laravel, unit testing (phpunit), vuejs

- experienced with symfony framework and doctrine orm desirable

- basic server management (ubuntu)

- ci/deployment pipelines - we use laravel forge, envoyer and github actions

- pair programming / collaborative working

- full life cycle product development

- integrating 3rd party apis

- you have an ability to comfortably work with varying code styles and php versions

- proactive and have a positive attitude towards solving problems

- you are comfortable dealing with clients directly, taking briefs and engaging with clients

desirable skills

- experience using with jira, confluence and tempo

- experience line-managing and coaching a small team of developers

- leadership aspirations and want to coach others to grow and develop

- experience bidding for new software projects, including estimating the time involved to deliver to an agreed scope and preparing proposals
