purpose of the role:

responsible for training all new starts and maintaining competency levels of current abattoir operatives, ensuring consistency and compliance to livestock, slaughter, offal and trimming and finishing requirements for red meat for sale and consumption, in accordance with client specifications and company sop's.

main responsibilities:

conduct departmental induction for all abattoir operatives new starts including ppe requirements, knife safety requirements, quality standards, department sop and customer specification familiarisation and compliance

monitor, develop and encourage compliance to ppe requirements, knife safety requirements, quality standards, department sop's and customer specifications for all current abattoir operatives

maintain exceptional understanding and knowledge of customer specifications and yields

along with supervisors, roll out specification changes or new requirements to all slaughter hall operatives ensuring full understanding and compliance

assist manager and supervisors in managing daily production targets and suggesting resourcing solutions

perform slaughter, butchering, trimming and finishing tasks at line speed

participate fully in lean manufacturing processes and embrace new methods of working

completing assigned tasks in a timely manner to meet daily targets

ensure product is of the highest standard, reporting any issues to the manager immediately

familiar with daily production plan, working with team to set up line, completing relevant checks and ensuring materials are ready to use

perform all prestart, hygiene and safety checks as required

complying with quality specifications and understanding yield values

complying with company's knife and health and safety rules, including hygiene requirements

report all breakages, damages or defaults of equipment immediately to manager, only using equipment when safe to do so

identifying and/or reporting any accidents or near misses, assisting with investigations as instructed/necessary

minimising and reporting of waste appropriately

finishing products to the required specifications

maintaining and securely storing tools and equipment

actively participate in all required company training

cover supervisor duties as instructed/required

assist manager and supervisors in identifying performance issues

assist manager and supervisors in identifying talent and high performers, including succession planning

any other duties as instructed by management and within the competency of the post holder

working hours:

monday - friday

full time contract

pay:

gbp15.00 per hour
