our cheltenham based client is a global market leader in the provision of highest quality catering infrastructure solutions for supply throughout the world, and as a result of continued success and an ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit a proactive and experienced design supervisor to complement their established and highly successful design division.

reporting to the commercial director and based near gloucester, the successful candidate will be responsible for the motivation, drive and direction of a small team of technical and design professionals tasked with ensuring customer requirements are met at all times in a varied and challenging niche industry sector.

the successful candidate will be an experienced designer/engineer able to demonstrate excellent knowledge of both autocad and revit and will be tasked with undertaking the design and space planning of commercial kitchen solutions in a variety of environments including portable buildings, modular buildings, traditional buildings and tent structures.

you will develop systems and procedures that take advantage of advances in cad technology and systems to the benefit of the company and development of the workforce, and will liaise extensively with both internal and external customers including the sales team regarding a wide range of projects and various key technical members of the team regarding engineering and construction based projects, so excellent communication skills at all levels are essential in the position.

as design supervisor, you will essentially demonstrate a high level of skills and experience gained in 2d plan drawings and 3d modelling, utilising externally referenced drawings and able to implement cad layer standards and templates, drawing block attributes and data extraction, whilst developing and maintaining the design library of content – including the use of dynamic blocks and revit families, with experience of advanced scheduling of fixtures, fabrication and utility loads and the use of rendering software (enscape) proving distinctly advantageous.

with the ability to visit site (a full uk driving licence is required for the position for this reason) and take accurate site measurements and receive a brief from the sales team and interpret the design requirements in order to compile appropriate design schemes and drawing layouts, you will undertake the aesthetic production of sales presentation drawings using layouts and raster (jpeg/tiff) images and compile detailed approval drawings to produce stainless–steel fabrication.

as design supervisor you will accurately complete the master drawing register as required and will possess knowledge and experience in creating and updating an autocad user interface with the compilation and maintenance of the company custom user interface file (cuix) and autocad tool palettes. with an organised and flexible approach to manage your drawing workload to achieve deadlines, you will also be responsible for the compilation and accuracy of the cad design block and revit libraries with a desire to maintain and constantly improve drawing and design standards.

although not essential, the ability to generate sbem part l compliance calculations, compile planning application drawings, theoretical knowledge of ventilation air flow calculations / heat balance equations and the ability to use simulation software to determine heating and cooling loads within buildings will again prove distinctly advantageous, as will knowledge of uk building regulations / standards.
