about our client:

they are a multi-disciplined, civil engineering and utility contractor operating nationally, providing a range of utility and civil engineering services including multi-utilities. based in tipton and established for more than 40 years, they are framework partners with several major utilities, driven by a commitment to maintaining and developing solid client relationships and continue to diversify and reinforce their reputation for delivering quality you can build on.

the role will be responsible for the co-ordination of the recruitment and selection processes including effective onboarding and induction, producing and maintaining all hr paperwork/systems that underpins our client's policies including processing starters, changes and assisting with correspondence. you will report into the hr officer whilst also providing administrative support to the head of hr & support services and join a team of 5.

the successful candidate will need to be highly organised and able to prioritise their workload and, ideally, have experience of helping to develop and implement improvements to processes that enhance service delivery, possess excellent customer service skills, it literacy and the ability to problem-solve, will be amongst your key strengths. the ability to be proactive and supportive is essential, as is the understanding and application of strict confidentiality and discretion.

you’ll be joining a newly formed highly supportive hr team. as such you will need to be a strong team player and willing to roll up your sleeves to support all hr activity. our client is adapting their current payroll/hr app which requires the hr team to deliver business as usual whilst developing and implementing new operating processes.

this is an extremely fast paced at times pressurised role due to our client's current growth and acquisition plans. this is not a sedentary administrative position and is certainly for someone who thrives on a challenge and a buzz.

the role:

as a member of the hr and support services team, you will play an integral role in providing hr support to the wider business throughout the employee life cycle in an efficient and performance focused manner. you will act as the liaison between payroll, hr, managers/supervisors, and the employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions.

what you will be responsible for?

hr administration to include contract, handbook, and general policy maintenance using company hr systemsassist the hr manager with the development and administration of hr systems and proceduresassist in all aspects of staff recruitmentassist in new starter on-boarding and inductionsadministration of timesheets, leave and absence dataact as the first line of contact for employee queriesproduce and update employee documentationassist hr team colleagues with the implementation of new employee benefit plans and initiativesto provide administration support to the hr team in an effective and efficient mannerwork collaboratively with the hr team to ensure that business priorities are metprocess all documentation and correspondence relating to employee life cycle matters in a timely and accurate manner, adhering to company proceduresliaise and provide information to other departments with regards to new starters, leavers, holidays, pay rate change detailscreate spreadsheets and graphs; input data; analyse information and translate in report formmanage and update the payroll/hr system, monitor absenteeismprocess and update all exit documentation timely to ensure accurate final paysupport the team in delivering hr projects and initiatives, as requiredcontribute to the continuous improvement of hr & payroll processes, documents, and servicesprovide cover when other team members are on annual leave or absent

previous experience of processing hr documentationpersonable demeanour to ensure employee always feel the hr department is approachablegood attention to detailexcellent ms office skillsstrong administration experience and organisational skillsexcellent communication skills - written and verbalconfident, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to liaise with managers at all levels within a businessdiscretion and the ability to work with sensitive information/ data while maintaining the highest levels of confidentialityability to meet deadlines and respond positively to pressure
