salary: gbp23,226 - gbp23,929 location: chard, somerset (office based) fixed term contract - 6 months - full time, 35 hours per week closing date: 13th november 2022 actionaid uk is a member of the actionaid federation, an international charity that works with women and girls living in poverty. as part of the actionaid federation, we work with women and girls, our partners, and dedicated staff in 43 countries to end violence and fight poverty so that all women, everywhere, can create the future they want. actionaid's child sponsorship programme has undergone some significant changes in the last couple of years, which have developed and improved the experience of our child sponsors. supporter communications, which were previously coordinated from countries, are now managed within the uk by the supporter communications mailing team. we will look to our supporter mailing assistants to process the receipt of physical child drawings, letters and photos from actionaid's operating countries. a key part of this will be for you to quality check the mailings for authenticity and importantly, check for any child safeguarding issues. you will be responsible for the final matching and despatching of the communications to supporters within the agreed communication timeframe. within this role, the tasks assigned to you will be for you to receive and store over 100,000 pieces of child sponsorship materials annually. you will log receipt of them, order them and store them in such a way that they are easily retrieved. please note that this role will entail manually handling materials in boxes, which will weigh up to 14kg. another key part of this role will be the printing, matching, packing and despatching of the feedback pieces to agreed timelines and to actionaid's high standards of accuracy. we will also look to you to support the processing of other mass production communications pieces. in order to succeed within this role, it is essential that the post holders have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build successful relationships based on mutual respect and trust, ensuring that relationships thrive under pressure. all applicants must also have proven experience of working with a relational database, word processing and spreadsheets, including microsoft office, email & other digital platforms. we are keen to receive applications from those who are well organised, who have a keen eye for detail and from those who are able to work effectively alone or as part of a team. excellent self-motivation skills when undertaking repetitive tasks is essential. actionaid is committed to driving improvement through digital channels, tools and ways of working. we will ensure that we provide the technology and the training to enable all staff to perform their roles to the best of their abilities. in return, we ask that all staff are committed to continually improving their digital skills and knowledge within the working environment. our recruitment processes will evaluate the digital skills of all applicants. actionaid is committed to supporting flexible working. if you would like to discuss flexible working options, including the possibility of a job share for this role, there will be space to do so during the interview process. we are committed to continually improving the diversity of our workforce and therefore encourage applications from people of colour, the lgbtqi+ community, the trans community, and those with a disability.
