job purpose

sustainable futures is an award-winning specialist unit within hta design that provides deep expertise on sustainable places and buildings. with over 15 years experience, we provide knowledgeable advice to our clients on residential-led projects across the uk, from low-rise urban extensions to the tallest residential modular project in the world. hta is committed to becoming a net zero business and applies the riba 2030 climate challenge to all our projects.

key responsibilities

• proven capability to undertake project planning and resource planning. • proven capability to take responsibility for the delivery of multiple large and/or complex projects. • proven ability to manage outputs for multiple reports for multiple outputs (i.e. energy, daylight and sustainability outputs). • ability to actively undertake presentations of work both internally and publicly (i.e. to clients, at events and for internal training). • responsibility for effectively managing, developing and/or mentoring team/project team members. • high level demonstrable and externally recognised expertise in a specialist area;- strong client relationships.

person specification

experience and qualifications

• m.sc. plus 5 years+ of relevant experience in a relevant field of work. • multiple accreditations (i.e. breeam, sap, dea, ceequal, iema, cibse) with 5 years+ experience. • significant, externally recognised expertise in a relevant specialism with 5 years+ experience.

essential skills and knowledge

• a knowledge of uk regulations for energy and co2 emissions. • an understanding of current and proposed legislation and industry best practice with regards to sustainability, energy and carbon management. • ability to research subjects, understand product/services and how it could be applied to a project. • ability to take a high-level initial project brief and convert it into a meaningful and successful piece of work. • strong oral and written communication skills in english. • capable of effectively communicating to clients and other members of the business to articulate the sustainable futures services in a confident and professional manner. • ability to develop new services to deal with changing regulatory and market conditions • ability to accurately input data into software programs, analyse data and draw informative conclusions. • ability to mentor, train and manage junior consultants. • ability to manage, support, develop and mentor other less experienced consultants. • well organised and be able to prioritise own workload with minimal supervision. • a highly motivated and driven approach to their career development. • a good knowledge of uk planning and construction.
