Duties and responsibilities5.1 follow the laboratory’s procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.5.2 analyze and interpret results and computer data5.3 maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens.5.4 adhere to the laboratory’s quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.5.5 follow the laboratory’s established policies and procedures whenever test system is not within the laboratory’s define acceptable levels of performance.5.6 be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance, or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the molecular genetics consultant and/or chief technologist.5.7 document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications; and5.8 must perform testing only under the on-site molecular genetics consultant.5.9 training of laboratory staff5.10 maintains confidentiality of client files and individual client logs.5.11 identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions. 5.12 performs forensic examinations of urine and other biological samples related to drug of abuse screening and confirmatory testing.5.13 documentation of quality assurance and controls, maintenance logs, results entered into a laboratory information management system (lims).5.14 this class is also responsible for performing related duties as required.5.15 maintains equipment and assures integrity of data by calibrating and cleaning equipment, changing parts, and running control samples through equipment for quality control.5.16 complying with safety, quality control, and other administrative criteria.6.0 education/licensure: (essential)6.1 master degree of molecular genetics or pathology from accredited college or university.
