Duties and responsibilitiesprovide direct nursing care to patients on a shift by shift basis.prepare plan of care for each patient using nursing process, patients' needs assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation.demonstrates the skills and judgment necessary to implement medical plan of care, nursing interventions and procedures, as necessary for the care of the patient.providing health education to the patient and relatives.handling high dependency unit ventilated patients within the unit and shifted to unit from other department after the cross-training from icu how to handle high dependency unit patient completed.teaching new staff after their probationary period how to handle high dependency unit patients.handling critically ill patients that need 1 : 1 /1 :2 nursing care.handling patients for cardiac catheterization and providing care pre and post-operativehandling patients for dialysis, perm-catheter insertion and providing care pre and post-operative.transporting/ escorting patient who has procedure outside ak mich.participates in the on-going training and development program of the department.takes responsibilities for his/her own professional conduct and growth.demonstrates knowledge and skills of the hospital policies and procedures.informs the team leader/ charge nurse/ head nurse of any changes in circumstances which affect the standards of care.adhere in the implementation of nursing care standards/ policies and support the head nurse and charge nurse for its implementation.ensures that infection control practices are adhered to in accordance with approved infection control policies.ensures that equipment are properly working.ensures that the usage of supplies is in cost effective and responsible manner and informing the team leader and charge nurse if low supply was noticed to ensures enough supplies are available in the unit.acts as a preceptor for junior and new staff and participates in orientation and development programs.assists with the resolution of problems on a shift-to-shift basis, with appropriate documentation and follow-up reports to the head nurse.assumes accountability for quality care delivered to patients.maintains confidentiality of patient's illness and care.responsible for keeping updated infection control, fire and safety and disaster on a yearly basis.demonstrates knowledge and skills in handling and proper storage, administration, documentation of medications.behaves in a professional manner at all times.protects patients' confidentiality in accordance with the hospital policy.being responsible for the direct delivery of professional and competent patient care by promoting quality care standards.ensures that the students and temporary staff allocated to the ward have appropriate orientation, teaching and support in accordance with their curricular objectives and reports any matter of concern to the head nurse/ charge nurse.documents and reports all accidents incidents to head nurse/charge nurse/ supervisor.participates in cqi&ps activities.support senior staff to identify opportunities for improvement in care provision and implement improvement plans.commence discharge planning on admission. skillsmust have good critical thinking skills.must be computer-literate.educationتمريض
