Duties and responsibilitiesabides by the medical staff by laws, code of medical ethics, rules and regulations of the medical staff and those specific to the department.provides the highest attainable standard of medical care for the patients for whom he/she is responsible.uses clinical skills and methods appropriate to pediatric dentistry management and establishes a plan of action in the patients' best interest.carries out full range of clinical activities as assigned by head of unit, in accordance with individually approved clinical privileges in pediatric dentistry.responsible for managing the assigned clinics as per approved by the medical director.admit the patients under his/her care whenever indicated within the limits of the approved and assigned privileges.responsible for the initial assessment, investigation, analysis, & interpretation of the clinical findings and test results, arriving at diagnosis, treatment, and reassessment and follow-up of the patients.prescribe, administer medication, therapy, and/or other appropriate care to treat or prevent further complication.responsible for explaining procedures and discussing diagnostic results or prescribed treatments with the patients and/or with the authorized attendants.responsible for referring the patient to other consultants/specialists when necessary, also consult, or provide consulting services to, other physicians whenever requested.responsible for documenting and completing all medical record of the patients and update on the progress of the patient appropriately. responsible for always authenticating the medical records at initial entries and progress notes by placing the signature with date, time, employee id number and official stamp given.responsible for reviewing and countersigning the entries and notes of all junior medical staff in case of patients under his care.responsible for ensuring the implementation of all approved policies, procedures, rules, regulations, protocols, guidelines and clinical pathways that guide and support the provision of clinical services.responsible for directing, supervising and coordinating the activities of specialists, residents, nurses, therapists, assistants and other medical staff involved in patient care.advise and contribute to the development of policies and procedures as part of the continuous quality improvement program of the dental.provide the reports and information as and when required by the coordinator of the dental services or hospital administrator/medical director of the hospital.responsible for identifying and brining all medico-legal cases to the notice of the management on time in accordance with the hospital policy.participates in the on-call duties as required by the department.teaches staff assigned for training purposes, and participates with the head of dental and director of postgraduate and academic affairs in planning a program of career development for trainees.teach and supervise the training of the registrars and residents and participates in the formal residency-training program as required.supervise and train registrars and residents in pediatric dentistry section research, investigations, and reporting as required.assists in the training, teaching, supervision, and assessment of trainee technicians, specialists and others as required.provide classroom lectures to students, trainees, or presentations to healthcare providers as required.participates in and/or actively supports approved research projects.deputizes for his superior as required and shares workload in his specialty during the absence of his colleagues.strives to improve his clinical expertise as well as standard of practice with regard to morbidity and cost effectiveness.participates in the forward planning, and further development of the department.participates in the major disaster plan of hospital, as indicated. skillsability to use scientific techniques to sort through data and conflicting information to reach an accurate medical diagnosis.ability to use problem solving to evaluate patients’ symptoms and administer the appropriate treatments.educationpediatric dentist
