Principal accountabilitiescompletion of failure analysis testing.advising design engineers on materials selection for new plants and manufacturing quality verification.supporting operations and maintenance engineers with welding procedures, repair and replacement decisions. advice and guidance for functions such as process, mechanical, and machinery engineers.external networking and literature monitoring to bring in industry best practices and identify promising new materials or technologies to address materials challenges faced by the company.materials safety a primary objective.use of standard software tools to compile data, write reports, and present recommendations to key technical and business stakeholders. skillsrequired skills and experiencejob incumbent is expected to have a minimum of a master's or phd degree in materials engineering or as an alternative mechanical engineering with a materials focus.job incumbent is expected to have some work experience in materials.experience and knowledge of the following would be ideal;failure analysispractical applications of materials in cryogenic servicechallenges faced by materials in high temperature servicenonferrous alloyscarbon and low alloy steelscorrosion fundamentalswelding fundamentalsfield experience working in a plant setting, especially in maintenance, inspection, and/or repair of equipment is favorable.the ideal candidate will have experience working on cross-functional teams, and a proven ability to lead teams and contribute as a team member. fluency in written and spoken english is a necessity to ensure skilled interaction with colleagues in all global locations.
