Clinical practice:provides high quality patient care in all aspects of pediatric anesthesiology.provides consultation (inpatient, and emergency room) upon request and responds in a timely manner as per the hospital policies and procedures.participates in on-call rota and is available over phone and in person when needed. ensures availability and response time within the prescribed time frame in accordance with hospital policy.performs any other clinical responsibilities related to the pediatric anesthesiology, as assigned.provides peri-operative pain management services in pediatric patients.actively participates in department's educational activities and training programs of the department and hospital.maintains and enhances professional knowledge and continuing education requirements.participates in research projects and publishes papers in accordance with research committee.participates in all mandatory departmental activities and serves on departmental and hospital committees, as required.assists the department in the development of existing services and implementation of new services that help in quality improvement and maximum utilization of all resources within the department and across the hospital.abides by the current hospital and medical staff bylaws, all relevant rules, regulations and policies and keeps updated of any changes that might occur.ensures accurate and timely completion of electronic medical records as per the hospital guidelines.provides supportive services to the multidisciplinary management of patients from other paediatric subspecialties.contributes to the development of excellence in clinical practice through academic and professional education, training, and research.advises and collaborates with patients' families to educate them about various conditions on how to minimize their impact on children's health.evaluates patient and records applicable notes about patient’s condition for purposes of serving as a record of treatment and/or making a possible referral to another member of the health care professional team.liaises with other medical and non-medical staff at organization to ensure quality patient treatment.supplies and provides care in a culturally appropriate and sensitive manner.follows ethical and regulatory guidelines.takes part in administrative functions that ensure the continued operations of the clinical environment, such as committees, task forces and performance improvement measures.adheres to individual approved clinical privileges, medical staff bylaws and all relevant policies and procedures of the medical staff.assists the department head in setting and implementing the strategic plan and in achieving management goals and objectives.participates in outpatient clinic, day care service and inpatient care and provide consultation within hospital, make recommendations, give appropriate advice, and/or facilitate decisions.monitors and evaluates the overall performance of team and ensure that high quality service oriented patient care is delivered on a consistent basis.participates in developing clinical protocols, audit clinical care and develop key the situation.skillsqualification & training:completion of all the formal requirements for the degree corresponding to doctor of medicine (md, mbbs, bmbs, mbchb, mbbch), andcompletion of at least one (1) year of supervised structured clinical training (internship) sponsored by a medical or dental school post completion of the undergraduate’s medical/dental education, andsuccessful completion of an accredited residency training program in anesthesiology, andcurrent certification by american board of anesthesiology or a recognized equivalent board in anesthesiology.at least one of the following:successful completion of an accredited fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology; orsuccessful completion of an accredited subspecialty training concentrating on pediatric anesthesiology or other related sub-specialty in anesthesiology for a minimum of six months, ordemonstrated competency through continued experience in each privilege requested within anesthesia for pediatric patients, neonates and adults with congenital defects unless specifically excluded from practice.clinical experience:essential: at least 3 years’ post qualification and training within a multidisciplinary setting such as hospital; and/or specialized medical center, anddemonstrate provision of inpatient or consultative services, reflective of the scope of privileges requested, to an acceptable volume of pediatric patients during the past 12 months or demonstrate successful completion of an accredited residency or clinical fellowship within the past 12 months.licensure and certification:successful completion of the dha licensure requirements as consultantmaintenance of current certification in basic life support (bls), pediatric advanced life support (pals) and advanced cardiac life support (acls).job specific skills and abilities:experience in general anesthesia as well as regional analgesia in children especially epidural catheters in childrenpositive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual.effective communication and interpersonal skills.team player.
