The trainee counsellor is responsible to the trainee affairs manager in relation to coordinating and overseeing a wide range of student support services, programs, and initiatives that contribute to students' personal and academic success in alignment with the strategic leadership and management of the college.they will work closely with students to address their diverse needs and challenges, fostering a positive learning environment and contributing to their overall well-being.they will conduct one-on-one counselling sessions with students to address personal, academic, and career concerns.skillsoffer a supportive and non-judgmental space for students to discuss challenges, explore goals, and develop coping strategies.collaborate with students to create academic plans that align with their goals, ensuring they meet their college program requirements and achieve academic success.provide guidance on study habits, and time management to enhance students' learning experiences.assist students in identifying their interests and strengths, helping them explore potential career paths within their chosen field.conduct awareness campaigns, and events on topics related to personal growth, emotional well-being, stress management, and interpersonal skills.provide immediate support and intervention for students facing crisis situations, such as mental health emergencies or personal difficulties.collaborate with relevant departments and external resources to ensure timely assistance and referrals when needed.partner with staff, and administrators to address student-related issues and ensure a holistic support system within the college.adhere to strict confidentiality standards and ethical guidelines when handling sensitive student information and counselling sessions.maintain accurate and confidential records of counselling sessions, assessments, and interventions.prepare reports and assessments as required by the college's policies and procedures.stay informed about current trends in counselling, mental health, and education through ongoing professional development.engage in regular supervision and peer collaboration to enhance counselling skills assessment areaessential criteriaqualifications bachelor degree in counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field from a recognised education institution or equivalent in a relevant subject area. experience minimum 3 years of counselling services or related experience. providing counselling or advisory services to students, preferably in an educational setting. prior experience in ksa or the gcc is preferred. english language qualification at ielts 6.5 or cefr c1/b2. ielts 7.5 is desirable. relevant counselling certification and licence as required by local regulations. evidence of continuing professional development relevant to the post.skills, knowledge and competencies administration and organisational (operational) verbal and written communication skills in arabic and english. risk assessment quality assurance and continuous improvement student counselling services (support, student wellbeing) student engagement customer services proficiency in using student information systems and relevant software applications. administration of data it literate in microsoft office suite (word, excel, powerpoint)
