job summary: conducts machine setup and troubleshooting on various size presses. always observes safety procedures and policies.

 

requirements:          

possess forklift operators license and crane operators license working knowledge of basic inspection tools                        strong verbal communication skills ability to effectively communicate with others ability to work with others thorough understanding of automatic and single stroke presses, feeders and straighteners high school diploma or acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience working knowledge of applicable quality system procedures [link available when viewing the job] qualified in general production

 

essential functions: 

perform die changes and set-ups remove completed die from press and return to die storage rack with final die strip, if needed adjust ram heights correctly to stop blocks adjust roll feed and stock alignment complete all necessary adjustments to set-up feed raw material (stock) through die at required strokes per minute (spm) evaluate and verify acceptable level of parts utilizing, control plans and inspection tools produce first-piece and contact quality for verification set-up of raw material stock decoiler set-up of raw material payoff reels mix and maintain oil lubricants on stamping process complete in-process inspections fill out appropriate paperwork:  routing tags and daily production tickets work with production leader on training operators create, approve and maintain set-up instructions stop jobs from running unacceptable parts provide input on process improvements and poke yokes operate machines when die setting skills are not needed perform activities of a safety inspector/safe work habits perform other duties as assigned maintain acceptable housekeeping in assigned area environmental health and safety

work environment: job is performed in a shop environment. long periods of standing will be required on a hard concrete floor. the temperature varies depending on the season. the noise level in the shop exceeds 85 decibels and hearing protection is mandatory and provided. steel is very sharp and great caution must be exercised to avoid injury. protective gloves are provided for this purpose. the environment is often oily.

 

physical requirements: must have good hand/eye coordination in order to complete quality checks. person must be able to stand for extended periods of time. this position regularly requires the ability to walk, reach, bend, and stand repetitively. it may be necessary to lift up to fifty pounds.
