respiratory therapist prn
examines patients with breathing-related conditions and conducts diagnostic testing. consults with physicians to develop and implement a treatment plan for the patient. performs physiotherapy and other treatments and teaches patients to use medications.
minimum education
graduate of a school of respiratory therapy.
required skills
requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
must have an updated american heart association approved basic life support (bls), advanced cardiac life support (acls), pediatric advanced life support (pals), and neonatal resuscitation program (nrp) certification. if employee does not have a current acls, pals or nrp at time of hire or transfer, then employee will have six months from day of hire, or transfer, to obtain, or update, acls, pals, or nrp certification. if employee does not have a current bls at time of hire or transfer, then employee will have one month from day of hire, or transfer, to obtain, or update, bls certification
required skills
able to communicate effectively in english, both verbally and in writing. additional languages preferred.
strong written and verbal skills.
basic computer knowledge.
ability to use abg machine, ventilators, ippb, ekg, aerosol tx’s, standard respiratory procedures.
ability to perform chest pt.
required licenses
must have a current mississippi respiratory therapist license.
