senior accountant – fixed assets - las vegas, nv

the senior accountant is responsible for general accounting operations such as maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers; participating in the completion of various department or audit related projects, and performing general bookkeeping. the senior accountant will work collaboratively with the general accounting team and will report directly to the accounting senior manager. this position is focused on fixed asset accounting.

essential duties and responsibilities:

prepares journal entries including supporting documentation. assists in the review and analysis of general ledger accounts, including reconciliations, adjusting entries and regular monitoring. answers accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting data. performs the processing of fixed assets depreciation and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, creating and processing of transactions in the fixed asset subledger, evaluating leasing transactions, among other transactions if necessary. prepares and analyzes the financial statement variance analysis for assigned accounts. corresponds with other departments to ensure proper accounting of day-to-day business activities. assists in the smooth, error-free and timely closing of the general ledger, including tasks necessary to prepare the monthly financial statements and interim/annual filings. assists in the preparation and support of quarterly reviews and annual audit. assists in research of newly issued accounting standards, as well as the related effect on our financial statements. assists with the fixed asset on-going and monthly closing procedures, including the reconciliation and tracking of the company’s fixed asset schedules, with a thorough understanding of all disposals, depreciation, new categories, etc. spot and correct errors during preparation or review of accounts and provide suggestions for improving efficiency. ad hoc analysis as requested.

applies the generally accepted accounting principles (gaap) that include analytical work and thorough review of financial records. experience working in a sarbanes-oxley compliant environment. strict attention to detail. strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of management. strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload in order to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment. excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. team player that can collaborate with other teams in the organization. high level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact and diplomacy. demonstrates a proficient level of professional skill and/or knowledge in accounting. keeps current with developments and trends. knowledge and ability to use applicable information technology and systems to meet work needs. prior experience with the creation of monthly reconciliations. prior experience with the recording and upkeep of fixed assets. thorough understanding of accounts payable and accounts receivable. thorough understanding of spreadsheets and excel capabilities.


computer equipment and software:

proficient in microsoft office (word, power point, outlook, especially excel). proficient in computer programs such as: jd edwards and blackline.


education:
bachelor’s degree in accounting or other related field

experience:
2 years+ work experience in accounting field

certification:
cpa preferred
