job summary: under the immediate supervision of the director of surgical services or other designated management performs first line management of operations within the preoperative, postoperative and pacu.  includes decisions concerning nursing practices, planning, staffing, disciplining, evaluation, problem solving as well as any other management tasks as assigned,  will provide input into budgets for the areas of responsibility.  provides direct patient care according to unit needs.

minimal acceptable job qualifications

licensure/

certification:            current state licensure as a registered nurse;

 bcls within 30 days of hire (must be done before acls and pals if not currently held) acls within 90 days of hire ekg within 90 days of hire (must be done before acls and pals if not currently held) pals within 90 days of hire  niche-grn certificate within 1 year of hire

must complete nims modules ics-100 and ics-200 within 30 day of hire

experience:    minimum of two years in clinical nursing experience in a hospital setting which

                         included charge nurse or equivalent responsibilities.

education:      bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred.

other:              

            demonstrates through working knowledge of multidisciplinary care planning, as well

            as nursing procedures, equipment utilized and strong knowledge of applicable

            regulations of preoperative patient populations.

            requires strong working knowledge of the normal growth, development, related

            behaviors, needs, comfort, and range of treatment appropriate to the age and

            diagnosis of patient served in order to support the provision of an individualized

            multidisciplinary plan of care.

            requires strong analytical and organizational skills to prepare and maintain various

            documentation/reports, supervise activities of staff and ensure compliance with

            hospital policies and procedures.

            requires group cohesion and communication skills promoting teamwork and group

            achievement.

            demonstrates well developed interpersonal and communication skills (both verbal and

            written) necessary to interact with all internal and external customers.
